Try as I may, I could not make up my mind on which version of the vase I was to release as a finished work of art until I realized that I didn’t have to choose: the scene may be single, but the feeling was multiple. Hence these two takes out of a few more.
PORTRAIT OF A VASE, Pt. 1 / WHERE WE STAND - The scene was set so perfectly it seemed, even to me, to have been carefully prepared. But it wasn’t. In actuality, looking for my smartphone, I had just stepped back for five minutes into a desolate hotel room I had already inhabited for two days and couldn’t wait to leave. And then I saw this scene. So I just pressed click… and made a mental note to remember that appreciation is all relative, in life, depending on where we stand.
